First of all, big thanks to all our amazing volunteers who came out this AM to help with Earth Day. A lot of weeding, cleanup, mulching, and planting happened! The school looks great, especially our new butterfly garden near the Kindergarten entrance – please check it out. Special thanks to Mr. Walker on the school’s maintenance staff for all his help and to Mr. Francisco Castro for providing our volunteers with a Subways lunch. Biggest thanks to Clark and Colleen Reed who chaired and organized this event.
Earth Day is just one of the projects and activities the PTA organizes and raises money for. Upcoming events include refreshment sales at the Twinbrook Rec Center movie night (May 2), Staff Appreciation Week (May 5-9), and International Night (May 17). Please be on the lookout for announcements about these activities. PTA funds are also paying for some school field trips this May, including the 2nd grade trip to the Howard County Conservancy.
So please keep this in mind as we get ready to elect next year’s board. Elections will be held at a short PTA meeting in the Media Center, Tuesday, May 6, at 6:45pm. This is the same night as the Science Showcase! Your kids can enjoy an activity with the teachers while the meeting takes place. Then you can go enjoy the science projects put together by your child’s class. We need a minimum of 15 PTA members to attend.
This is the slate of board nominees for 2014-2015 presented by the nominating committee:
President: Colleen Reed
Treasurer: Vincent Russo
Secretary: Jennifer Galmeijer

We do have two vacant positions. These positions are required by our PTA’s bylaws, so we must fill them. These can be filled by nominations from the floor at the election meeting. We urge you to consider these positions. The MCCPTA provides free training and you will have help from your other board members, from previous board members, and from the community of Twinbrook PTA volunteers.
