Twinbrook PTA News August 1

Meet the Board!

Meet our new board of directors for 2016-2017!

  • Vincent Russo, President
  • Jennifer Wood, VP Fundraising
  • Susan Adams, VP Membership
  • Trinh Minh, Treasurer
  • Sonia Reyes, Secretary
  • Amy Ackerberg-Hastings, MCCPTA representative

We are still hoping for another delegate. We are also in search of Spanish-speaking volunteers to help form a Latino Outreach Committee—it’s important that our PTA speak for all families at Twinbrook. Please contact Vincent Russo if you are interested.

National Night Out, August 2, 6-9pm, Twinbrook Pool

Of interest to our community: the Twinbrook Swimming Pool is partnering with Twinbrook Neighborhood Watch and Twinbrook Citizen’s Association to host National Night Out on Tuesday, August 2. The neighborhood is welcome to gather at the pool, bring a picnic, and then take a walk. 6 – 9 pm. Invite your neighbors! Swimming available for non-members for $6/person. The pool is at 13027 Atlantic Ave, Rockville.

National Night Out, sponsored by the Rockville Police Department, aims to raise awareness about crime and drug prevention, generate support for anti-crime programs and strengthen community spirit and community policing partnerships through block parties and fun events around Rockville. We hope to see you there!

Save the Date: Back to School Pool Party, Twinbrook Swimming Pool, August 28

The Twinbrook PTA invites all to a pool party to celebrate the end of the summer and the beginning of the school year! Everyone who signs up to join the PTA gets to swim for free, along with their families! The party will be from 12-4pm. Please stop by!

Help Wanted: Folder Prep and Teacher Breakfast

The PTA will help get the school off to a good start the week of August 22. We need your help!

  • The PTA will host a breakfast on August 25 for the Twinbrook staff. Can you help with food or set up?
  • Every year the Twinbrook PTA purchases homework folders for every student, and we need help getting them ready and stuffing them with back-to-school information. We will be scheduling an evening to get the folders ready (tentatively planned for Aug. 23). SSL hours available for high school and middle school students!

If you can help with either task, please send us an email right away!

Save the Date: Scholastic Book Fair 9/30-10/7

Save the date! Our Book Fair is scheduled for 9/30-10/7. This event raises funds and helps get Twinbrook kids excited about books and reading. But this event is entirely run by volunteers and we can’t do it without you. People are needed to help set up and break down the Book Fair, work shifts during the school days and a few evenings, and help with the planning. If you are interested please contact Stephanie Diaz or Susan Adams.
