Big Learning Science and Engineering classes still have slots available for after-school fall classes.
Science Classes this Fall focus on anatomy. “Featured Creatures” for Kindergarten and First Grade will explore animal movement, self protection and bone structure. “Jaws and Claws” for Second and Third Grade students will show how teeth and beaks give clues to an animal’s diet. Fourth and Fifth Grade “Clue Club” will let students be detectives to discover clues about life from owl pellets, bones, and even their friends. Science Classes will meet on Wednesday afternoons from 3:30-4:30 beginning October 10. The class runs for 8 weeks and there is a $99.00 registration fee.
There is an additional learning opportunity students in Grades 2-4 to participate in an Engineering Class. “Toy Creator” is an opportunity for students to make to make mechanisms like a wheel and axle or spring and turn them into toys. This class will meet on Tuesday afternoons from 3:30-4:30 beginning October 9. Again, this class runs for 8 weeks. The cost for this class is $99.00.
Registration papers were sent home via homework folders August 30th. You can fill in the Big Learning registration form and return it to school along with your payment in your child’s folder (Spanish registration form available). The registration deadline is Monday, September 24, 2012. If we do not meet the registration minimums, we will not be able to hold the classes.
