But there are many more PTA advantages:

*Get Connected: There’s no better way to know what’s happening in our school.
*Tap into a Network: PTA functions are opportunities to meet other parents and teachers, building rapport and discussing issues that are on your mind. You can share ideas, concerns, and experiences.
*Watch Yourself Grow: By volunteering with the PTA, you put your skills and hobbies to use for a noble cause—your child and all children in the community.
*Speak Up: The PTA can be a way for you to more effectively suggest change at your child’s school.
*Witness Improvement: By getting involved at your child’s school you’ll be part of the solution, helping make positive changes.

Local PTAs play an important role by supporting building improvements through advocacy and play an important role in fundraising for curriculum based programs and social events.Be a Role Model: By becoming a PTA member, you’ll be demonstrating to your child the importance you place on education.Click here to sign up today: https://twinbrookpta.org/join-the-pta/

Online Tutoring Program (Letter from Generation Z, RM Chapter)

Dear Parents,

We would like to present you with an opportunity to register your son or daughter in a free online tutoring program. Generation Z is an organization of students who all share the same goal of bettering the community by encouraging learning and offering extra help to younger students outside the classroom. We would like to make the process of online learning easier for students, and support them in their journey this year. We want to make sure that students get the same quality of tutoring and education as they have these past years so that they can thrive academically. All of our tutors are highly qualified Richard Montgomery High School students.

Tutoring takes place online this year and we offer a variety of subjects. Sessions will be flexible this year and will work to support students. After we receive an application, we pair up your child with a tutor who meets your specific time and subject requests. Then we give the tutor your contact information and they arrange sessions for whatever works for both parties. We have a resource to help you get started with online tutoring: Online Tutoring Resource. If you are interested in enrolling your child in our fall program, please fill out the English Form or Spanish Form. You can also sign up easily online at our website, rmhsgenerationz.weebly.com, under the For Parents Tab. Thank you, and we look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
Sabrina Mei

Food Distribution Site 5/16

The McClean Bible Church will be distributing food boxes this Saturday, May 16th in their church parking lot, 12:00pm-4:00pm.  The church location is 12440 Parklawn Dr., Rockville, MD 20852.  It will be first-come, first-served for food pick-up.  There will be staff onsite to place a food box in cars and there will be access for people arriving by bus or Metro.

A Message from the MCCPTA:

The Blueprint for Maryland’s Future act has been vetoed by Governor Hogan. The Built to Learn Act was not signed, but it’s funding is tied to the Blueprint so those funds are now not available according to the passed legislation.

This has serious consequences for our children’s education. We NEED both bills in order to properly fund our school budgets. Please consider going to this link https://secure.everyaction.com/4E6zrcype0Sovvtk_jelOQ2 today to take immediate action. We need to work on a veto override in order to save some of our construction projects and to improve the quality of education in our county and state.

Please stay tuned for information on possible 5th Grade celebrations, details on how to get yearbooks, and how to pick up an items your child may have left at Twinbrook.  Details will be provided once they are available.
