Here is what we have planned:
— plant a butterfly garden in an old bed between the Walkers Door and the Kindergarten pickup door
— weed and mulch beds around the school grounds
— craft activity for the children
— snacks — breakfast finger foods, water/juice, and possibly donated sandwiches
Here are volunteer jobs we need help with:
— 6 volunteers to be in charge of different areas around the school to coordinate the weeding/mulching/planting work and let volunteers know what tasks need to be done.
— 2 middle or high school student volunteers to help children with a simple craft project — most children will want to work for awhile, then do something else.
— 1 volunteer to direct people where to work at the sign-in table / 1 volunteer to manage the snack table
— A volunteer to fill a pickup bed full of mulch from the Montgomery County transfer station (see http://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/sws/yardtrim/mulch.html)
— Everyone to bring their own tools to use
— Volunteers to donate snacks, yard waste paper bags
— A volunteer to loan a large water cooler/dispenser for drinks (we would like to avoid having to buy plastic water bottles and encourage people to bring their own refillable bottles)
